Daniel Nelson ~ Youth Support Specialist
Dan joined the OISYS team January of 2017 with a background in residential adolescent care and trauma informed psychotherapy. Dan earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with a minor emphasis in Nonverbal Communication. After working at an adolescent group home for two years, Dan transitioned to working in a clinic setting where he was able to practice different clinical applications that involved intensive trauma informed group psychotherapy. This experience has helped Dan connect with O-I-See assigned youth, now in a one-to-one setting, to discover solutions to some of life's biggest challenges.
Dan's passion is to help improve the quality of life for every single youth he serves. He believes that challenges are not necessarily better or worse between individuals, they are simply unique. This insight allows Dan to connect with youth while helping them find solutions that are tailored specifically to their individual problems.
In his spare time, Dan enjoys painting different landscapes and watching a good movie with his friends. During the summer, Dan likes to go on hikes and camp in the woods. He loves all animals, and he especially enjoys visiting his family that includes playing with his dog and six cats.
